To blog or not to blog?

Yes, I know.  It has been a long time since I've last posted.  I feel that since I am pretty much on Facebook updating all the time, that I really don't need to blog anymore.  What could I possibly say that isn't on my updates?

Took me about a minute or two of thinking back and I came up with nothing.  But since I've taken the time to update my blog...here are some of the highlights of the summer so far:

    1. It is warm out.  Sometimes a little too warm.  and humid.  Doesn't make me want winter to come sooner...or at all for that matter.  I love the warmth.  I would prefer it if I could go to the beach or pool more often, when it is hot out, but I love knowing that it is warm out and the days are long.

    2. My cousin got married on July 3rd and it was beautiful out and it is always fun dressing up and seeing the family in one place.  (although I missed those who could not attend)

    3. Brian's mom throwing Brian and I a party in celebration of our engagement.  I am very fortunate to inherit such thoughtful people.

    4. Brian finally broke down and joined Facebook even though he insisted he would never do such a thing.  I'm glad he did.  His comments are always pretty funny and I love that he makes me laugh.  I also love finally linking the fact that I am engaged to him.  Yea, I'm a big dork.  Whatever.  I still love it.

    5. I'm starting to get the hang of playing golf.  This is the first year that I've played on a course in my life.  I still suck pretty bad, but at least if I miss hit it, it pretty much goes straight...like a ground ball as if I'm playing long distance croquet.

    6. I've been to the beach on 3 separate occasions this summer.  Pathetic from previous years when I used to play beach vball 3-4 times a week, but more than the last 2 years combined.

    7. I've been reading some really good books lately and those can be found on my page at goodreads.com/lesliechang23

    8. Looking forward to cousins weekend this weekend in the AC area. :)

    9. Also looking forward to a scrapbooking weekend next weekend with my friend Stacey!

    10. I couldn't leave off at 9...so to make it 10...go see Despicable Me in 3D...Saw it last week and I thought it was really good! :)

  • Mother Nature

    Accuweather

Clearly Mother Nature and I are not on the same page.

The last 4 years have been wonderful without snow.  I was hoping with all that global warming that has been going on all these years, that our climate might somehow change to my favorite climate of Southern California.  I know its wishful thinking, but a girl can dream, right?

We have been spared this past weekend, although if we had lived just 40 miles south, we'd be under a foot of snow instead of the 2-3 inches we got.

I guess you can't win them all.

  • Our dear Sophie,

You have only been living in our home for a week now and you have stolen our hearts.  We realize that you haven't lived in a home before and things like headphone wires and throw pillows look like things you could play with and chew to your hearts content.  But Brian and I are here to guide you to the right path of learning what is and isn't acceptable to chew on.  For instance, there are kongs, bones, balls, rope toys and other pet toys that are more than fine for you to try to tear to shreds.  Whereas, welcome mats, pillows, blankets, clothing, USB cords, and cat poop are off limits.

Another thing, my dear Sophie, is that we hope to teach you that you do not have to be aggressive with your toys or food.  There are plenty of toys for you to play with and we promise you that you will never go hungry.  You do not need to always take the toys Mason is currently playing with, nor do you need to eat whats in Mason's food dish because I assure you that its the same food that is in your dish.

We know that you are only 8 months old and have had a lot of health concerns in that short period of time.  The skin fungal infection that the humane society treated you for and the hookworms, erlichia and anaplasmosis that we are treating you for.  Luckily, we love the vets that have taken care of your brothers and sisters and I hear from Brian that they fell in love with you too.  We are not sure where you picked up the hookworms from, but I hate those darn ticks who gave you those other infections.  We promise that we will make sure any furthur ticks that try to bite you get a dose of frontline in their systems and perish!

You were probably nervous to be in a new place the night we brought you home, and we realize it was probably your nerves and your many ailments that caused you to pee on our area rug, but we hope you realize that going to the bathroom in our living room is unacceptable.  We are watching you like a hawk to make sure no more accidents happen.  Relieving yourself is only allowed outside and we give you many opportunities to be outside, so there should be no excuses.

We love having you join our family Sophie, and even though we need break you of a few habits and teach you that the crate is not an evil place for you, we think you will acclimate yourself just fine.  We think you are the cutest little puppy with those floppy ears and sweet temperament.  Having you sleep on the bed with mason and us is just simply adorable.  Some nights I wake up and you are snuggling up to me and your head resting comfortably on me and I can't think of anything cuter than that.
